I went to visit Charlie at the vet yesterday. He’s doing well! They say that he is mainly laying quietly–which is GREAT–though he did wiggle a bit of bandage off overnight, but it was quickly fixed. He seemed really happy and spry, and was really happy to see me, with lots of purrs and headbutts and rubs to leave all his remaining hair on my pants. 🙂 He is shown here exploring the cat room at the vet for a little while before settling back into his bed. The boarding solution is working – HOORAY!
He’s going to board until at least Monday. My hope is that he will be able to get his staples out and then come home. Fingers crossed!
It’s also been good for me, giving me a chance to recover a little from the terrible stress of the last two weeks and clean the house. It was the right decision to board Charlie. I miss him, but it was the right thing to do!
This really makes me happy! Thank you so much for taking the time to update!
I love that he was so happy to see you. I also love that he willingly crawled into his bed.
This really seems like a great solution for you and Charlie. No one can understand the intensity of this journey and emotional toll it takes on us unless they’ve been through it. And then to jave unexpected challenges on top of everything else…ugh!
I know you’re looking forward to your next visit…and so are we! Keep these great updates and pictures coming!!
Hugs to all!

Hi Charlie!! You look like such a sweet kitty.
Your story sounds so much like Sebastian’s. Starting with the limp, the swelling (happened SO fast), us thinking it was just an injury, to the utter shock of the actual diagnosis. I feel for you. But it gets better and cats do AMAZINGLY well!!
I also feel for you on the crazy kitty attitude! Sebastian has his moments. We got lucky that he slept a lot (possibly by force) and that he wasn’t really itchy. But we had problems with him not eating, and taking him to his follow up visits was terrifying because we were afraid he’d hurt himself just getting in a crate. But we made it, and so will you! I can’t blame you for boarding him and I think you did the right thing. I am lucky enough to be able to work from home but if I couldn’t, I would be a nervous wreck! So it’s great that you have such an accommodating vet.
The good thing is you’re on the home stretch!! Things only go up from here. He’s going to get strong and figure life as a tripawd out in a matter of minutes (if he hasn’t already). Best wishes to you & Charlie!!!
Holy smokes, that is some bandage. Hopefully your little Houdini won’t escape that one.
Thanks for the update. You are a wonderful kitty mama. I’m glad he’s in a safe place and you can get some rest.

Sounds like this is just what Charlie needed! Hope soon all this is but a distant memory and Charlie can get back to the serious business of just being a cat. Hugs

How is Charlie doing? Is he back home yet?
